Debut Young Adult Authors of 2015 Speak at Chevalier’s

Chevalier’s is proud to present a panel of five amazing 2015 Debut Young Adult Authors to discuss their work, answer your questions and sign their novels. Mark your calendars for Saturday, December 5th, 2015 from 3pm-5pm when we will be joined by Michelle Levy, E. Katherine Kottaras, Charlotte Huang, Jen Klein and Nicola Yoon conversing about their beautiful edgy stories with seasoned YA novelist Gretchen McNeil. YA lovers of all ages are welcome, especially aspiring writers!

unnamedunnamed-1Michelle Levy hails from Denver, Colorado, and now lives in Los Angeles, California, where she works as a casting director for film and television projects such as Six Feed Under, Deadwood, Bruce Almighty, and more. Not After Everything is her debut novel.

unnamed-3unnamed-2E. Katherine Kottaras is originally from Chicago, but now she writes and teaches in the Los Angeles area. She holds an M.A. in English from the University of California, Irvine and teaches writing and literature at Pasadena City College. She is at her happiest when she is either 1) at the playground with her husband and daughter and their wonderful community of friends, 2) breathing deeply in a full handstand, or 3) writing.

Charlotte Huang is a graduate of Smith College and received an MBA from Columbia Business School, which is clearly something every aspiring writer should do. When not glued to her computer, she cheers her two sons on at sporting events and sometimes manages to stay up late enough to check out bands with her music agent husband. Charlotte lives in Los Angeles and is the author of For the Record (Delacorte, 2015).

unnamed-4unnamed-5Emmy-nominated writer Jen Klein grew up in North Carolina and studied theatre at Appalachian State University. She wrote the screenplay for the movie The Choking Game and is also the author of the forthcoming contemporary YA romance Shuffle, Repeat. Jen is currently a writer on the hit TV series Grey’s Anatomy. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband, two sons, and several animals, all of whom are unruly and ill-behaved.

York Times Bestselling author of EVERYTHING, EVERYTHING. She grew up in Jamaica (the island) and Brooklyn (part of Long Island). She currently resides in Los Angeles, CA with her husband and their daughter, both of whom she loves beyond all reason.

unnamed-8unnamed-9Gretchen McNeil is the author of the standalone YA horror novels POSSESS, TEN (2013 YALSA Top Ten Quick Pick for Reluctant Young Adult Readers, a Romantic Times Top Pick, a Booklist Top Ten Horror Fiction for Youth, a finalist for Washington state’s 2015 Evergreen Young Adult Book Award and Vermont’s 2014-2015 Green Mountain Book Award, and was nominated for “Best Young Adult Contemporary Novel of 2012″ by Romantic Times) and 3:59, as well as GET EVEN and GET DIRTY, part of her mystery/suspense series Don’t Get Mad, all with Balzer + Bray for HarperCollins. In 2016, Gretchen will publish two novels: RELIC, a YA horror novel, with HarperCollins/EpicReads Impulse on March 8, 2016, and in the fall, I’M NOT YOUR MANIC PIXIE DREAM GIRL, her first YA contemporary, with Balzer + Bray. Gretchen also contributed an essay to the Dear Teen Me anthology from Zest Books. Gretchen is a former coloratura soprano, the voice of Mary on G4’s Code Monkeys and she sings with the LA-based circus troupe Cirque Berzerk. She is repped by Ginger Clark of Curtis Brown, Ltd.
