Chevalier’s is excited to welcome celebrated LA chef and restauranteur Roy Choi! Roy will be stopping by the store on Thursday, December 10 at 7pm for a meet-and-greet and to sign his cookbook L.A. Son: My Life, My City, My Food. Roy‘s co-authors Tien Nguyen and Natasha Phan will also be in attendance to chat with guests about their book.
Filled with over 85 inspired recipes that meld the overlapping traditions and flavors of LA—including Korean fried chicken, tempura potato pancakes, homemade chorizo, and Kimchi and Pork Belly Stuffed Pupusas—L.A. Son embodies the sense of invention, resourcefulness, and hybrid attitude of the city from which it takes its name, as it tells the transporting, unlikely story of how a Korean American kid went from lowriding in the streets of LA to becoming an acclaimed chef.
Roy Choi was born in Seoul, Korea and raised in Los Angeles, California. He graduated from the Culinary Institute of America and went on to cook at the internationally acclaimed Le Bernardin. He was named Best New Chef by Food and Wine in 2010. Choi is the co-owner, co-founder, and chef of Kogi BBQ, as well as the restaurants Chego!, A-Frame, Commissary, POT and upcoming LocoL. He lives in Los Angeles, California.
This is sure to be a fun event, and a perfect gift for the LA foodie on your list. If you’re a fan of Roy’s restaurants (and who isn’t?), you won’t want to miss this opportunity to meet the man himself and get your cookbook signed!
