Short Story Workshop at Chevalier’s

Pen and paperLooking for a unique gift for the creative thinker on your list? We’re excited to announce we will be hosting The Art of the Short Story, a 10-week short story course, taught by Julian Smith-Newman, a graduate of the MFA Program in Fiction at UC Irvine and the fiction editor of Faultline.

During each class session, we will divide our time between an in-depth discussion of specific craft elements (plot, point of view, characterization, sentence rhythm, etc.) and a discussion of each participant’s work. By the end of the course, participants will gain a fuller understanding of both the short story as a form and how they can continue to grow and develop as writers.

Classes will be held on Sunday evenings from 7:00 – 9:00pm, starting January 10th and finishing on March 13th. Light refreshments will be served and participants are encouraged to bring additional food and drink, potluck-style. Because this is a workshop, we ask that you enroll for the full 10-week course. The fee for this course is $250. Click here to sign up.

We are proud to be a part of LA’s burgeoning literary scene, and we can’t wait to see what our talented community of writers brings to the table for this in-depth course! If you have any questions, please email us at chevaliersbooks@gmail.com.
