A New Year, A New Group of Awesome Writers

It’s time for another installment of our monthly Literary Series (2016 edition)! Once again, we have a fantastic lineup of writers ready to blow your mind and break your hearts: John Brantingham, Jillian Lauren and Conrad Romo. Join us on Thursday, January 7th, at 7:00pm, and please feel free to bring your own writing! We will have an open mic between performers and we are prepared to be amazed by your talents.

brantinghamJohn Brantingham teaches composition and creative writing at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, California. His poetry has been featured on Garrison Keillor’s Writer’s Almanac and in hundreds of magazines in the US and the UK. He is the fiction editor in charge of novellas at the newly formed Spout Hill Press and is one of two fiction editors at the Chiron Review. His books include the short story collection, Let Us All Pray Now to Our Own Strange Gods and the crime novel Mann of War. His newest poetry collection The Green of Sunset is published by Moon Tide Press.

jillian-portrait-300x300Jillian Lauren is a writer, storyteller, mom, rock-wife and Los Angeleno, by way of Jersey, and the New York Times bestselling author of the memoirs Everything You Ever Wanted, Some Girls: My Life in a Harem and the novel Pretty. Her writing has appeared in The Paris Review, The New York Times, Vanity Fair, The Rumpus, and Salon. Jillian is a regular storyteller with The Moth and has performed at numerous spoken word and storytelling events across the country. She regularly blogs at the award-winning jillianlauren.com. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband, Weezer bass player Scott Shriner, and their son.

atmicConrad Romo is the co-founder of LitCrawl L.A  and the host/producer of Tongue & Groove, a literary variety show, now well into its’ 12th year.  He grew up in N.E.L.A. short, stocky and swarthy. He earns his daily bread as a salesman. His writing has appeared in Los Angeles Review, Huizache, Latinos in Lotusland, Tu Ciudad, Silver Birch, Palehouse, Splice Today, Literature for Life,  Coiled Serpent and CitySpeaks.
