PEN Emerging Voices Author Evenings: Jonathan Lethem & Bruce Wagner

emerging voices.jpgTo celebrate the fellowship’s 20th Anniversary, PEN Center USA is opening The Emerging Voices Author Evening Series to the public. Free to PEN Center USA members!
Author Evening Series events include a brief reading, conversation, and a question-and-answer session with the audience. The Monday, March 14th Author Evening at 7 pm will feature conversation between authors Jonathan Lethem and Bruce Wagner. In preparation for the event, participants should read Lethem’s short story collection, Lucky Alan and Wagner’s novel, I Met Someone.

06-lethem.jpgJonathan Lethem is the author of Dissident Gardens and eight other novels, including The Fortress of Solitude and Chronic City. His book, Motherless Brooklyn, won The National Book Critic’s Circle Award. His stories and essays which have appeared in Harper’s Magazine, The New Yorker, and The New York Times, have been collected in five volumes. His writing has been translated into over thirty languages. In 2005, he was named a Fellow of the MacArthur Foundation.

06-wagnerBruce Wagner is a novelist and screenwriter who lives in Los Angeles. His novel I Met Someone is coming out this month, and his book The Chrysanthemum Palace was a 2005 PEN/Faulkner finalist. Last year Wagner wrote the film Maps To The Stars, starring Julianne Moore and directed by David Cronenberg.
