Meet Ann Redisch Stampler and her latest vivid teen characters as they criss-cross America in this electric new thriller about changing identity, running away, and falling in love with the enemy. How to Disappear launches on Wednesday, June 15th at 7:30 p.m. with Ann reading and signing!
How to Disappear follows the game of cat and mouse between a girl on the run from a murder she witnessed—or committed?—and the boy who’s sent to kill her. Sixteen-year-old Nicolette runs away from Ohio, changing her name, switching interstate buses, and disguising her body in an attempt to disappear. Meanwhile, eighteen-year-old Jack is blackmailed by his criminal brother into hunting her down. Told in alternating voices, this tightly plotted mystery and tense love story challenges our assumptions about right and wrong, guilt and innocence, truth and lies.
“Stampler’s people, places, and cultures are genuine… [this] mashup of suspense, road trip, romance, and psychological drama maintains its energy and credibility right through its emotionally honest and un-fairy-tale-like ending.” – BOOKLIST
